Apple's Supply Chains: De-Risk or Double-Down on China?
- ケース
- 新着ケース
As one America's flagship tech companies, Apple has found itself increasingly caught in the crossfire of US-PRC tensions. Apple's relationship with Foxconn, and the manufacturing ecosystem it constructed in China, symbolized the post-WTO US-PRC economic relationship. Now, as tensions rise, it is actively looking for new avenues for its production, such as relocating some strategic production to Vietnam (i.e., AirPods) and India (i.e., iPhone). Not only is Apple strategizing for its own facility relocation, but the company is also pressuring its suppliers to do the same. This case examines the macro and micro forces driving Apple's actions and its decisions for geographical expansion and diversification. What products should be relocated? Where should they be moved? What drives these decisions? Should Apple continue its geographic diversification or bring production back to China? Should it accelerate or slow these efforts?
