In 2023 a set of scholars set out to study the effect of artificial intelligence (AI) on the quality and productivity of knowledge workers - in this specific instance, management consultants. They wanted to know across a range of tasks in a workflow, which, if any, would AI prove to be helpful for and to what extent. Among what the scholars found was what they called a "jagged frontier." Their findings suggests that workers across industries might be wise to do the same. This hands-on exercise invites participants to find the "jagged frontier" for their workflow, for the time being. It can be used on its own or as preparation for in-class activities, including paired with an effort to find the jagged frontier for the course subject matter.
