In August 2024, the firm faced a pivotal moment as managing partner Varun Chandra left to become the prime minister's special adviser on business and investment following a Labour Party victory. Under Chandra's leadership, Hakluyt had significantly expanded, doubling its workforce and reaching 113.1 million in revenue by 2023. His early exit accelerated succession plans, raising questions about the firm's future, including who would succeed him, how the firm would sustain its strategic growth, and how key clients would respond to the leadership change.
