This is the third of three short cases that profile how companies built their AI capabilities ("Building AI Capabilities: Yum! Brands," UVA-M-1068; "Building AI Capabilities: Flipkart," UVA-M-1069; and "Building AI Capabilities: CFA Institute," UVA-M-1070). The case focuses on CFA Institute, a global, not-for-profit organization that focused on advancing the investment profession through a range of educational offerings, research, thought leadership, and advocacy. CFA Institute experimented with multiple ways to use AI to make its internal operations more efficient, such as applying generative AI to its existing content library to produce marketing and promotional materials more efficiently. At the conclusion of the case, the company was continuing to experiment with ways to use AI to increase workplace productivity.
