This chapter explains the first spark of an idea at the beginning of imagination. This spark is often due to a new and exciting encounter that leads one to reevaluate their current mental models and may inspire a change. It goes on to describe triggers of imagination, actions to support the new idea, and obstacles to avoid. The authors describe fostering inspiration for new ideas as a three-step system. The first step, "seeing," involves making time to pay attention to take note of, and engage with new information, whether it be positive or negative. Second, "comprehending," is explained as reflecting on accidents and investigating abnormalities, to give a better understanding of why something outside the norm may have occurred. The third, "interpreting," is about connecting and synthesizing pieces of information, enabling one to draw analogies and learn new worldviews. There are some common roadblocks for having moments of imagination, chief among them being too busy or in too controlled of an environment to leave room for curiosity and reflection. The chapter closes with some material in the form of games and guided questions to aid in idea generation.
