Race, Work, and Leadership is a rare and important compilation of essays edited by Laura Morgan Roberts, Anthony J. Mayo, and David A. Thomas that examines how race matters in people's experience of work and leadership. The third section-comprising chapters 8 through 15-discusses phenomenological studies that qualitatively research the lived experience of a subject, trusting them to be the speaker and expert on their own life. Chapter 12 discusses how the authors were able to bond together to collaborate on social justice action because of their different backgrounds. They discuss how their connection is centered on Fraser's Black identity and Samuels's white identity, and how they shared and endured their own oppression while educating others.
