Race, Work, and Leadership is a rare and important compilation of essays edited by Laura Morgan Roberts, Anthony J. Mayo, and David A. Thomas that examines how race matters in people's experience of work and leadership. The third section-comprising chapters 8 through 15-discusses phenomenological studies that qualitatively research the lived experience of a subject, trusting them to be the speaker and expert on their own life. Chapter 14 discusses womanism as a paradigm shift wherein Black women no longer look to others for their liberation but instead look to themselves. The author explores how the leadership of Black women in antiracism spaces is pivotal for liberation work.
